Here are a few of the tools I use in my leatherwork. Sometimes they are chosen based on recommendation, other times I just stick with what I am used to.

At the top a scalpel. Maybe it is not for everyone, but I have been using this for many decades, long before I started in leatherwork, so it just feels right for me.

Above is the go-to-burnisher: Tokonole. It comes in clear, brown and black.

Awl-inspiring. I use two different awls. The one to the left is round with a gradually long tip. The one on the right is a diamond-shaped sharp awl, used when you want to make holes but not alter the shape too much.
